It
is possible to make rag doll hair out of almost anything and in many
different styles.

These
are then sewn, glued or felted onto the doll's head.
Needle felting
involves using a barbed felting needle to
push the 'hair' fibres through and into the doll head. You
can root 3” strands of rug wool or mohair fibre to the doll’s head
using a felting needle.
The
felting needle has a slightly barbed end so that as you push the wool
fibres down through the fabric skin into the doll head they catch on the
inner stuffing.
Doll hair that has been applied with felting needles is
not permanently applied. It can be pulled out again and is not suitable
for dolls made for children as toys. |
NB:
The American word 'bangs' means fringe.
