Raggedy Ann began life as a cartoon illustration created by Jonny Greulle an American Artist. In 1915 he registered Raggedy Ann as a trademark and made and sold hand-crafted Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. It is alleged that a candy heart with the words 'I love you' was put in the chest of each doll.

I
had a good look at the illustrations in the 1960's story book and from
them, designed my own Raggedy Ann doll. |
