I am just beginning to make cloth sculpted dolls. I am "studying" with Charlie Patricolo of the Southern Highland Craft Guild here in NC. I am trying to learn about all the techniques available to create cloth dolls. Your publication will be a great resource. Thanks for all your efforts to share with others.

Sara, I think your site is terrific - your dolls have bags of personality - everybody should have one! - I am just so impressed, it loaded quite quickly and apart from 2 of the dolls never appearing, I thought it was brilliant. I like the way it appeals to people who already can and those who would like to...and even those (like me) who are all thumbs!! The site is attractive and really inviting The links all worked well and I loved the way the dolls changed on the first page...very clever stuff.

Just wanted to express my joy at receiveing the doll you made for me. She is all that I was hoping and then some. She has such an expression that I find myself glancing in her directions several times a day as she sits in a prominent place for all to see her. She has a winning look and I am so very glad I placed my order. Thanks Sara for the extra care and creativity you gave in turning out the most expressive and appealing doll I have ever seen made of cloth!!
Looking at my doll can inspire many dolly stories. Now if I could just write as well as you can create, little Miss Sunshine could tell some wonderful tales.

I am looking to buy some pink stockinette and flesh coloured calico for rag doll making. There does not appear to be anywhere in the U.K. Does anyone know of a supplier?

You should be able to get natural unbleached calico from any fabric supplier. I understand that pink stockinette is a seasonal purchase! There is also oyster coloured stockinette which is a beige colour as well as white and cream. I can't remember the logic behind it though, or which season- Xmas I think.

Thank you for the link in your "Doll Hospitals in the UK " section. To save your visitors getting a "Page Not Found" please could you alter the link (http://www.crafts-unlimited.co.uk/hosplink.htm) to http://www.toyrepairs.co.uk as I have now split the Toy Repairs away from my cross-stitch site and into its own domain name.

Thank you very much and Happy Christmas

Hi
a super website and it expresses very well your love of cloth doll making. However, I came upon your website after a lot of searching on Google.
The search is for a friend of mine who is very fond of knitting, tapestry etc. However, she has been asked by her local vicar if she can make (too late for this year) a soft doll nativity scene, the characters to be about 10 inches to a foot high as they cannot be seen really close to. so far I have trawled the web in vain but at last (I hope) I have found somewhere I can get help on the subject.
Many thanks
Eric

Which pages/dolls did you enjoy best?

I liked Miss Chevious (so cute) the best, but all your designs are good. I also found a lot of help in your How To pages.

I have just made my first cloth doll using Patti Culea's book. I found it really fun and quite fascinating to do. I also read about you in Doll magazine and quite by chance I came across your web site whilst trying to find out what 'hemostets'were!! I love making dolls and for the past year I have been to porcelain doll making classes but this is difficult without a kiln at home. The joy with cloth dolls is to work on them when you really feel creative.

Which pages/dolls did you enjoy best?

I enjoyed looking at all your pages especially your dolls. Its an inspiration to look at someone elses work.I have put it in Favourites!!

Hi Sara, great site. I found you with Google. I am looking for a Jemima (Playschool, 70's version with the long black ponytail.) I had one when I was a very tiny girl and it was my favorite thing. I would like to get one for my own baby daughter, but it is like they never existed. I still have my Jemima, but it is literally loved to bits and has had her hair replaced. But she was orginally an exact replica of the original. I don't know where I got her, but there must have been a few of them around? Any advice?
thanks!

Hi, I am interested in commissioning a simple cloth doll/plush toy from someone, preferably in the UK , and I was wondering if I could get a quote from you. I would want something reasonably small, about 10 inches, and it is a simple design except for the spiky bits on the head, not using a great many fabrics or any complicated extras, just some kind of soft but nubbly dark brown fabric that sort of resembles tree bark, and then a few bits of shiny light blue for eyes and mouth, and iridescent orangey-red for the heart. You can see a picture of what I'm getting at here: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-1/84207/simplething.jpg (it's from a music video - I will try to find a bigger, better picture if necessary.)

If this is not the sort of thing you are interested in, could you please still e-mail me and let me know of anyone who might be? I would be ever so grateful! Thank you!
