One of a Kind Commissions

The Brief: "I have a 25 year old rag doll which was given to me at birth and whilst I fear she has been loved too much and is way beyond repair, I was hoping it would be possible for you to make another doll similar to the original if I could send either some pictures or design ideas over to you."

As another touch, I also made her a cape in the darker pink, to match one side of her reversible bonnet.

The verdict: "She is beautiful, thank you so much"

Louie I & II

Sadly there were  no clear photos of this much loved doll to work from, so the clues were that she was made in about 1978... the patterns which had  been so popular then were Jean Greenhowe and 'Holly Hobbie'.
From photos supplied for the commission and some information about her size, hair, face and other features, I was able to make Louie II to replace the much loved Louie who, now 25 yrs old, has disintegrated beyond repair and recognition.  This little lady was only about 10" tall and had flame red orange hair, black shoes on stump legs and an embroidered Looby Loo like face. I wasn't able to find the exact same fabric as that popular in the 1970's, but used contemporary dark & light pink cottons with white trim. As my own touch I attached a ribbon and small silk rose to her reversible bonnet.
