In my novice days of face painting dolls I was given a commission to make a doll of a colleague's fiancé.  I  was given a photo, the colour purple and an item of clothing to work from and was told her hair was chestnut brown. I used fabric paints for the face and shoes and two shades of tapestry wool for her hair.
